A researcher for The Biggest Loser used data from 11 participants and found that calorie restrictions alone led to a 75 pound weight loss in six months (65% of body fat) but the dieters experienced decreased muscle mass.

However, participants who also exercised trimmed 60 pounds–all from fat.

TIP: muscle is essential to body health.  The best way to shed weight is to combine consuming fewer calories with regular physical exercise. (Obesity, online, 10/3/2012)
